With 11 categories, there are plenty of opportunities for you to showcase your work. There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted.

Organisation Awards

This award will recognise organisations that can demonstrate how their use of research, innovation or technology has delivered improved patient care, cutting edge performance and measurable improvements.

Work showcased in the entries for all categories should have taken place between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

This award will recognise, reward and celebrate the outstanding achievements of an educational institution that delivers IBMS Accredited degree courses.

Submissions should evidence how the institution has an outstanding impact on student outcomes that prepares the biomedical science workforce of the future to deliver world class patient care.

Work showcased in the entries for all categories should have taken place between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

This award will recognise organisations that have embraced EDI initiatives to deliver and support a diverse workforce that fosters innovation and success. The winning organisation will successfully champion how diversity has created an inclusive team-working ethos and show how they promote inclusion in a valuable way.

EDI initiatives can include (but not limited to) projects on:

• Accessibility: Creating a supportive and accessible workplace for various needs (e.g., disabilities, mental health, hybrid work).

• Diversity: Actively supporting and promoting diversity in ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ+, and neurodiversity.

• Future Forward: Investing in team development, mentoring, positive training practices, and cultural change

Harvey’s Lab Tour of the Year celebrates an outstanding initiative that brings comfort, knowledge, and empowerment to young patients and their families who visit the laboratories where their samples are processed and analysed, helping to demystify their healthcare journey.

This award also recognises the exceptional efforts of biomedical science teams who run Harvey’s Lab Tours that goes beyond their lab work to directly engage with young patients and their families, offering them a glimpse into the vital role that biomedical science plays in diagnosing and treating their conditions.

This award will recognise the achievements of two or more organisations from within the biomedical science community that have worked in partnership to achieve identified aims.

This award will recognise organisations that are leading the way in performing exemplary work in a sustainable fashion. Be it economic, social or environmental sustainability, the judges will be looking for evidence of the impact that organisation’s sustainability initiatives have made.

This award will recognise organisations that can demonstrate how their training and development programmes have improved biomedical science knowledge and practice for the benefit of their staff and the improvement of their services.

Individual Awards

This award will shine a spotlight on an outstanding leader or manager who provides direction, support and inspiration. The winning individual will have developed a positive culture that supports, progresses and promotes their team and their team’s improved services.

Entries to this category must be nominated by a colleague. Self-nominations are not permitted.

Individuals entered into this category must be members of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).

Work showcased in the entries for all categories should have taken place between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

This award aims to recognise emerging talent in biomedical science. It is open to biomedical scientists who have been HCPC registered for less than three years and have already made a significant impact within their organisations or teams. These individuals are considered rising stars and future leaders in the field.

Entries must be submitted by a colleague. Self-nominations are not permitted.

Nominees must be members of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).

ORGANISATION AND INDIVIDUAL AWARDs

This award will recognise public engagement and voluntary activities that have helped to raise the profile of biomedical scientists and laboratory staff who work in healthcare.

Submissions could include activities and events that inform the wider world about biomedical science and inspires the next generation of biomedical scientists.

This award is open to individuals as well as organisations.

Work showcased in the entries for all categories should have taken place between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

This award celebrates outstanding teams working within the biomedical science profession.

This award is open to teams working for an employer but also to teams who work together to deliver services to members such as IBMS regions, branches and discussion groups.

The winners will be able to demonstrate how the development and operation of a high-performing team has contributed to patient care, organisational success or engagement with IBMS members.
